About the Founder
Founder
Gunn Land Services, LLC was founded by Rob Gunn, JD, CPL who has worked for over fifteen years in the oil and gas industry since graduating from law school. His industry experience includes being a field landman, in-house landman for an operator, title attorney, and in-house counsel for an acquisition company. This broad perspective of industry knowledge distinguishes Gunn Land from other service providers, and it helps the company understand client needs.
Meeting Client Needs
Rob Gunn endeavors to use his well-rounded background to provide solutions for clients in the energy industry. As a field landman in South Texas, he began his career by running land records in county courthouses. Once, the county clerks even invited his Labrador Retriever, Hera, to work with him in the Gonzales County courthouse. Additionally, his experience as an in-house landman taught him the complexities and responsibilities of drilling wells, while his time as in-house counsel in Midland provided transactional experience.
Our Services
Gunn Land specializes in providing consulting services to operators and non-operators regarding exploration contracts, well ballots, and curative title. Land titles research in the form of runsheets, mineral ownership reports (MORs), and lease checks are available from contract landmen in multiple states.
Contract Landmen
Experience Matters
Gunn Land utilizes contract landmen with years of industry experience, and many have worked multiple states. Several landmen have achieved their law degrees or spent time as in-house landmen. Newer landmen are always paired with more experienced individuals to ensure knowledge is passed on and client goals are met.
Land Dogs
Hera
Hera traveled with the founder for 10 years to courthouses across the Texas during his time as a field landman and attorney in South Texas, East Texas, West Texas, and New Mexico. This picture was taken in Monahans Sandhill Texas State Park, and her owner ironically took over operations for the well later in his career as an in-house landman for an operator in Houston, Texas. Hera passed away in 2022, beloved by all industry professionals who met her.
Phantom
Phantom is Gunn Land's current office dog in Houston, Texas, and he is a relentless hiker on weekends. Although a Montana native who was raised in Wisconsin, he's been a Texas dog for years now. He has accompanied his owner on business trips to East Texas and South Texas. Although he has not visited as many courthouses as Hera, there is still plenty of time for Phantom to see more Texas and New Mexico counties.
